First Rehearsal a Success
Category: News, Pictures,The first of four rehearsals for the October 12 program have been completed. Meeting at the Markham Woods church, the choir and instruments worked their parts separately. The choir read the Hallelujah Chorus under Evan Chesney, and worked the first half of the Rutter Gloria under Mark Becker. Finally, the chorus rounded out the practice session reading Fettke's The Majesty and Glory of Your Name under the direction of Leon Hauck.
The brass focused on the Gloria this first session, with Mark Becker directing. Great progress was made, with the time allotted for the Gloria ending with a read through at full concert tempo. Next up, the strings tackled Albinoni's Adagio in G minor and made great strides forward on the piece.
The second rehearsal is scheduled for Sept. 27 at the Forest Lake Academy music department. This will be the final rehearsal that works the choir and orchestra separately.
